In a few sentences, describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and whether you have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis:
I have previously conducted several fundraisers for nonprofits close to me related to cancer and autism, in my area. I do not have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis, but I find it important to promote a culture of empathy and altruism in society, which I feel is severely lacking in today’s day and age. Showing support for this cause will help with advocacy, raising awareness and support for research in curing paralysis.
Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed?
This will be my 4th Marathon. I have completed the Toledo Marathon previously. I have two other marathons I’m registered for this year, prior to the Chicago Marathon.
What do you crave after a long run?
A fresh açaí bowl!
Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what?
Very often music on my shorter runs and a podcast or YouTube series on longer runs.
What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon?
This will be my first time running in Chicago and visiting downtown Chicago. I am excited to explore the city and see what it has to offer. I am nervous about getting injured, as I was injured before my last marathon, and it severely affected my performance.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and our 3 dogs. I also enjoy travelling and live music festivals/concerts.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I am deeply grateful to U2FP for this opportunity. I couldn’t be more excited to participate in fundraising for Team U2FP! I have always enjoyed and felt inspired by helping others. “It is the collective generosity that helps make a profoundly positive impact on the world.”
