In a few sentences, describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and whether you have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis:
As a health care provider for 6 years and now pursuing an AGACNP degree, I have worked with patients both immediately after traumatic spinal cord injuries in stabilizing and transporting prehospitally, and during recovery in an ICU setting. As a health care provider, I see the impact that these injuries can have on patients’ lives, as well as the incredible resilience that they demonstrate in adjusting to living with paralysis. As a student with a science background, I wanted to support U2FP because I believe in the goal of furthering research. As a nurse who focuses on holistic patient care, I also appreciate the importance of a foundation that creates a space for peer support and connecting a variety of resources.
Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed?
Yes, this is my first marathon!
What do you crave after a long run?
A massive slice of cheese pizza, preferably from “Brick Oven” in New Haven.
Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what?
I listen mainly to music depending on the day it will range from classic rock to shuffling Phoebe Bridgers discography
What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon?
I’m excited to see how I hold up to the training. Historically I’ve been an impulsive runner, so having a long-term goal and working towards it is going to be a fun practice.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, surfing, photography, cycling, playing bass, watching Formula one, and reading.
