In a few sentences, describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and whether you have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis:

While I haven’t been personally affected by spinal cord injury, my work in neuromonitoring connects me to the mission of U2FP. My job consists of monitoring patients’ nerves during surgeries involving the spine and alerting the surgeon of any signs of potential injury before they happen. While spinal cord injuries are rare, they can still occur and cause difficulty for patients. Running the marathon for U2FP gives me an opportunity to support those affected by spinal cord injuries by raising awareness and funds to accelerate research.
 

Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed?

No, this will be my second marathon. My first marathon was last year at the 2023 Chicago Marathon!

What do you crave after a long run?

A large electrolyte drink to rehydrate and then Korean barbecue!

Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what?

It depends! Oftentimes I will listen to a podcast or audiobook. If I’m struggling on my run, I will listen to some upbeat music. If I’m focusing on my training, I will listen to a metronome to maintain my cadence.

What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon?

I am most excited about the great atmosphere that the crowds bring to the race. I am most nervous about trying to hit my ambitious race goal!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Watching TV/Youtube, spending time with my dog, browsing Zillow listings, and running of course!
