In a few sentences, describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and whether you have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis:
In 2012 my mum was injured in a horse-riding accident that left her paralyzed. She has since become amazingly independent and even represented Great Britain in the European Para Horse Driving Championships – quite literally getting back on the horse! She is a massive inspiration to me and to all who are unfortunate so suffer a life-changing injury. I decided to race for U2FP as a nod to her, and to do my part to help a charity doing such important work.
Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed?
This is my first! I’ve done a few Triathlons so I have some experience at competitive events, but nothing close to marathon distance. Really looking forward to the challenge.
What do you crave after a long run?
Great question, but I haven’t really got there yet – let’s check back in a few months!
Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what?
I’m constantly listening to music in everyday life so yes I absolutely will be listening. Right now I’m in a pretty deep Camelphat phase (also a nod to my Liverpudlian roots) but I’m pretty much into everything.
What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon?
I think excited for the race-day atmosphere. I’ve spoken to friends who have ran and they tell me the buzz is electric.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I moved from London to Chicago in Jan 2024 so right now my main pastime is exploring all the city has to offer.
