Where do you live? Minneapolis, MN

In a few sentences, tell us about the course you've chosen or designed for this year's Freestyle Challenge event: I’ve convinced my wife, Ann, to participate in a little triathlon with me! I will bike 2 miles from our house to the southwest corner of Lake Nokomis. Ann will be there with her (new!) paddleboard. I will tag her as I speed past (safely?) on my bike, which will initiate her journey across the lake on her paddleboard. When she reaches the other side, she will tag me and I will run around the entire lake - just shy of a 5k - and finish with an even better time than I did last year (23:05). I will then drink beer and likely take a nap.

Describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and your personal connection to the spinal cord injury and paralysis community: I'm the content manager at U2FP. I don't have a direct connection to the injury outside my colleagues here at our organization. Every year I learn more and more about the stamina, creativity and ingenuity of the SCI Community, as well as the unique challenges they face in all areas of their lives. Treatments for this injury (or any malady) require the direction of those who are most impacted - that’s what U2FP is all about, and it’s making big strides towards meaningful interventions for individuals with an SCI.

What is your fundraising goal? 1,500

What do you crave after training? Beer

Do you listen to anything when you train? Not usually, but maybe I'll change it up this year. If you donate, throw in a playlist suggestion :)

What makes you nervous or excited about U2FP's Freestyle Challenge? I'm nervous I won't beat my time from last year, given that I’m also biking this year, and am not a year round distance runner.

Fun Facts - tell us something unique or interesting about you? I once wore chain mail at a Renaissance Festival for a girl I liked at the time. A few years later, a co-worker happened to google me and found pictures of me in chain mail from that festival (I didn't know my pics and name had been taken). It has since become a long-running joke. My wife loves to bring it up, and laugh about it with friends who don't yet know ... now you are among those in that inner circle :)
