In a few sentences, describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and whether you have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis: My college friend, Jake, suffered a spinal cord injury a few years ago and he has been working with U2FP ever since. He speaks glowingly about the organization and I have a ton of respect for the work they do to innovate and advance the cause of spinal cord injury and paralysis advocacy. Further, in a freak accident, a lifelong friend suffered a spinal cord injury in February 2022. These two men inspire me every day. When it came time to partner with an organization for the marathon, I knew this was the team I wanted to be on!
Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed? This is my second marathon. I tried my hand at trail running for a few years and now I am ready to hit the pavement again!
What do you crave after a long run? Burgers and Gatorade.
Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what? I like to match my music to the weather of the day. Sunny and crisp - upbeat country like Zac Brown Band. Cloudy and cool - alt rock like Arcade Fire. Hot out? OutKast
What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon? I’m most excited to run in such a celebrated race. I’m nervous about the imminent pain!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? In my free time, I enjoy exploring Chicago’s neighborhood restaurants with my fiancée and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Anything else you’d like to share? Happy to be running with U2FP.
Unite 2 Fight Paralysis is proud to once again be a charity partner for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2022! Help support U2FP’s initiatives to accelerate curative treatments for those living with Spinal Cord Injuries. Team U2FP members have raised nearly $200,000 in the past few years. Thank you for your support to advance research towards a cure for spinal cord injury!
