What is your connection to U2FP? Why did you choose to run in support of U2FP? Do you have a personal connection to spinal cord injuries and paralysis? My good friend from college, Jake Anderson, suffered a spinal cord injury during our junior year of college. It's been an inspiration to watch his recovery and commitment to his PT, as well as how he's selflessly helped others in similar situations and worked tirelessly to support organizations like U2FP. We (Team JandyStrong) have completed half-marathons in Chicago to fundraise for U2FP in the past and I’m excited to be doing something similar!
Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed? My second! I ran the Milwaukee marathon in 2017.
What do you crave after a long run? A warm chocolate chip cookie.
Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what? It depends on the day! It varies between podcasts, Dua Lipa and some self-reflection time listening to the sounds of the city.
What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon? I’m most excited about the wonderful group of people I’ll be running with and for, as well as the excitement of all the different neighborhoods the course runs through.
An interesting fact about yourself or anything else you’d like to share: When running with friends I tend to start running faster while telling stories and have been scolded for it on a few occasions!
Unite 2 Fight Paralysis is proud to once again be a charity partner for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2022! Help support U2FP’s initiatives to accelerate curative treatments for those living with Spinal Cord Injuries. Team U2FP members have raised nearly $200,000 in the past few years. Thank you for your support to advance research towards a cure for spinal cord injury!
